Sarıkaya Chemicals: ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 legal compliance system

Sarıkaya Chemicals had 180 chemical products and dozens of raw materials; safety data sheets (SDS) were scattered and emergency plans out of date. Large customers conducted annual environmental and OHS audits.

• A chemical inventory and SDS database, and a storage compatibility matrix
• Scenario-based emergency plans for hazardous material spills, fire and explosion
• Waste classification, audit of disposal contractors and an environmental permit tracking schedule
• Linking environmental measurements (solvent vapour, noise) to the risk assessment
• A near-miss reporting culture: 78 reports in six months instead of 4

Result

The certificates were obtained at the first audit. Findings in customer audits halved; legal notification and permit deadlines are now followed with automatic reminders.
